We spent the entire night driving around Alaska chasing the Northern Lights, stopping at every spot we could find. Chena Lakes, one of our favorite places to ice fish and snowmobile, was our last stop of the night. It was already 3 AM, and the sky was completely still. We walked out to the frozen lake and stood in silence, taking in the stars and the quiet around us. Even without the Northern Lights, it felt peaceful and perfect.
As we started walking back to the car, the sky suddenly began to glow. I turned to tell Alec, and he was on one knee. I said yes, then immediately asked if we could go to the car because it was 20 degrees below zero!
It was calm, freezing, and perfectly us.
